Mġarr is one of the oldest villages in Malta and home to two World Heritage Sites - the megalithic temples of Ta’ Ħaġrat and Skorba. The geography of Mġarr, characterised by its proximity to the sea and the Binġemma Basin lying between high ridges offered advantages for early settlers to set up an agricultural community. The coastline is also home to the well-known beaches of Ġnejna Bay, Għajn Tuffieħa and Fomm ir-Riħ and is dotted with various historical buildings and fortifications dating from the Knights of St. John through to WWII.
